Yep, thought of that last night too...wouldn't it have been easier just to clarify and enforce the rules that were already in place rather than revamp the whole system from square one just because some people didn't "get" it?

Wish I'd been at that meeting...BCSD elected not to fund anyone going to the clinic this year.

Thanks for your discussion. I agree with your points and arguements. It always seems that the people that make decisions about soccer have not the interest, understanding, or desire to do what is right for the sport or the kids.
Why do the division of regions alwys only favor football?
Why does the SCHSL make blanket rules that apply to all sports instead of specific rules that apply to each sport?
If only soccer coaches ruled the universe.

Can a varsity coach have a practice with their team in the off-season that is held off the high school campus?

Excuse me but how much does a hotel room cost in Greenville during the summer? Seems to me if you wanted (or felt) like you needed to be there then you could have attended.

No. The only way a coach can practice with team members in the off season is if he/she is coaching an outside team (club, rec, etc.) that is clearly sponsored by a non-school entity. In that case the "75% rule" is in effect...in the case of soccer, the outside team can have a maximum of 8 players from the coach's school team.

Of course. I could have easily paid out of pocket to travel across the state and stay in a hotel room in Greenville for a couple of hours of clinic meetings rather than wait for the local rules clinic in January that's held about 5 miles from my house each year.

Or, I could save that money and use it towards attending the NSCAA national convention or maybe pick up some extra odds and ends for my high school and/or club team.

Hmm.

Allow me to personally welcome the latest member of the "Why can't you just..." club.
