google his college team's website and check out the roster. If it's 50% foreign -- and THOSE are the guys getting the grants-in-aid -- you'll know whose future he REALLY cares about; i.e., his own. You might also count how many kids are from South Carolina, or even the Carolinas.

8) Our collective inability/unwillingness to think outside the box, or expand our comfort zone. Example: age group thinking. Understandable -- maybe even acceptable -- for competition. Far too inflexible for training. You'd be surprised how many kids are ready to train, and even compete, with bigger, older kids. All too often, kids' development is arrested because we're hung up on the success of the U11 team, instead of the kids' enhanced development at a U12, U13 or even U14 level.

And it is not like those schools with int'l flavor are winning conf championships consistently or going deep into NCAA playoffs. I applaud CofC, USC, and now Clemson starting to recruit more in state players.

For the record, if I read it correctly, Coastal Carolina lists 6 foreign players on a roster of 29. they also list a bunch of Texans, which doesn't surprise me, given Shaun Docking's role and presence at Region 3 camp.
By the way, I have nothing against qualified foreign kids filling rosters. Or not! That's a coach's (and institution's) decision. Still, I find it ironic that certain coaches directly involved with SCYSA and ODP go so heavy on foreign players.
And, as you point out, aren't necessarily winning a bunch of games.
