I see many posts by people worried about ODP and how valid it is, and will it put the best teams on the field. Is it about W's and L's or development?
Who are we kidding? Look at the teams who play challenge year over year and never win a game. Our system itself, the basis of who plays at what level is flawed. To me this is a much larger hole in SC soccer, than the ODP debate.
Tonight there is a match between a team who was 0-9-1 last year, and 0-2-0 this year - versus a real "challenge" team. How much do we really think the kids on the weak team will learn tonight?
Please understand my point is for debate purposes only. Hopefully, SCYSA will listen sooner or later. It is also not meant to poke fun at any kid, anywhere... In fact it is meant to protect them, in the long run.
A quick look at the schedule and it was not hard to figure out who you are referring to. They are 0-2 but they have lost both games by one goal. Per your logic all three teams I guess should not be in Challenge!?
I guess you would prefer it if this team went classic and beat everyone by 4 or 5 goals?? And of course those all-important bragging rights of winning the Presidents Medal Cup!!!
And besides why are you worried about other people's choices? Your daughter must have got cut from the team or something, because you obviously have a beef with them ...
There are simply not enough teams to warrant the layers required to provide the appropriate competition for all in SC.
Having said that I believe that promotion / relegation will one day be needed in SC soccer.
