Im still confused on what i am hearing that if a team or club does ECNL then they cant do their own state cup. Is this the way it is going to be or is it just talk?

Kind of thought there might be more than one but did not know it for fact so I went low. Also have a GUSC team that is over 50% SC girls too, I wonder just how many players (mostly girls but there are even a few high level boys crossing the border too) from SC are playing in NC. I would guess the state people would know, as you have to get a cross state permission slip. I wonder if the SCYSA would put that numbmer out if asked?

If I read an earlier post correctly, it was implied that there are no specific rules against Academy kids playing ODP, and indeed, last December, I saw just that at Orlando, where Academy kids played for ODP side.
In reality, the reverse "embargo" is true. In Tuscaloosa, I saw at least 6 kids (from various states including ours) planning to play Academy in 2010-11, mysteriously excluded from holdover rosters. What made it worse is that the parents weren't told this was the plan beforehand, and therefore weren't able to make an informed decision regarding the value of their child's participation.
Again, transparency and fundamental honesty should be baseline values of ANY program.
But not, historically, SC ODP.

This was the case in the beginning, I do not know for sure now...someone please comment factually

Full Time Male USSF Academy players are allowed to play in the ONLY the following:
USSF Developmental Academy
High School
USA National Teams
players listed on the roster as "developmental players" or (DP) can play in a maximum of 6 games for the USSF Development during which they are free to play in all other programs.

In the hypothetical example I gave, I didn't just leave them off. They still play full time Premier, but one of the girl's parents said they simply couldn't afford it financially. No problem, I still have a full 26 player ECNL roster. Another had a 1500+ SAT and so many demands on her time academically that she needed the time to devote to her academic committments. Again, no problem. Both are fully committed to the game and still play full time Premier League. And... I still have a full 26 player ECNL roster.

While we were in Alabama last summer at the Region camp, ECNL made the announcement that this would be the last year an ECNL team would be allowed by that organization to participate in a USYSA affiliated State Cup championship (that will knock the teams out of USYSA Regional Championships, Region Premier and USYSA National Leagues). That was the first shoe to drop. The other shoe will be when ECNL prohibits individual members from participating in ODP. The first restriction is done (fact), the second will come (prediction).

Thanks for the clarification. Please help me with some other confusions. When I went to the US Club Soccer site, I saw no restrictions on ODP participation. When I went to the USSF site I indeed found the rules you're speaking of. When I went to the SCUFC site for its Academy teams I see the USSF logo and the US Club Soccer logo at the top of the page. But, when I go back to the USSF site you lead me to, I also see "Academy teams are not permitted to participate in competitions such as State Cup, Super Y-League and U.S. Club Soccer."
With both logos flying, exactly what are the affiliations of the Academy teams?

USSF Academy teams (u16 and u18) play in the USSF Developmental Academy League and follow the rules and guidelines of that league. Please remember that when referring to participation rules there is a distinction between "player" eligiblity and "club" eligibility. Delta and Rob... appreciate the factual statements, I thought them to be true but could not state as such.
So CESA ECNL teams (as the only SC rep at this time) will no longer be able to compete in state cup, R3PLE, etc. starting in fall 2011 at minimum on the girls side.
I think there is a boys side of ECNL as well... this I assume also applies to that group.
