A director that forbids his players from playing ODP? How does that work? Unless he covers all the players expenses..He can only suggest not to play..

Player movement is inevitable, as long as coaches are willing to accept transfers from each other's rosters IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SEASON and WITHOUT SIGNIFICANT DEMONSTRATED HARDSHIP.
Wanting to play for a winning team (or leave a loser), or appear in big events is not, to me, SIGNIFICANT HARDSHIP.
Loyalty to club, coaches, teammates. Major.

My question would be: What message do you send by accepting opportunistic transfers?
Now, if player X's family moves; or if he needs to spend more time on academics and less in a car; or if there's another significant off-field issue, I'm fine with it.
Being dissatisfied with the training regimen or the team's results, when you as a player opted for and contributed to BOTH: Not a good enough reason.
Purely in my opinion, of course.

Loyalty in club soccer is a one way street. How can a club be loyal to the player’s when they have tryouts and take the best 15-18 kids that show up. A loyal player that has done everything asked of them could and does get cut. Bottom line is parents need to do what is best for their child.

To a point, I agree. Coaches/clubs don't always set the best example. So why should we MATCH it?
Sometimes, what's "best for a child" is to look him/her in the eye and say: "You made a choice between Team A and Team B. You can't have it both ways, just because your team isn't winning AS OFTEN AS YOU'D LIKE, or because some of your teammates are injured and the carpool isn't as convenient."
Right now, kids/parents switch affiliations and clubs more often than socks. Often, they don't switch because of coaching, or opportunity, but to win games.
It's called principle.

I watched a group of boys from u12 to u18..They started out with 16 boys from the local area..When u18 came around I counted three maybe four players from the original squad..The club put winning first..not the players that started out..If you expect loyalty..You have to demonstrate loyalty..

If it's not the result of a potential in-season recruiting violation, but a player's choice, do you really think the accepting club cares about that? History says "no".

Someone please tell me what meeting I missed where the current and previous year's members of the ECNL teams from SC were presented the options of... 1) playing USYSA (R3PLE/ODP), 2) playing ECNL, or 3) playing both? Let's say this year I know #3 is the only option available, IF my daughter stays with the club. Someone please tell me what meeting I missed where the current members, players and parents, were allowed input regarding the selection of ECNL events to be attended especially regarding the scheduling of events creating pending conflicts with ODP tryouts and Viking Cup? There is a difference between what the players are committing to and what the club is committing the players to after all the clubs in the state have concluded tryouts, have made their selections, and the players' parents are sitting in a season start-up meeting. (The 4th option, not mentioned above, was chosen by half of what would have been my daughter's club's U-18 player pool this year... play somewhere else.)
Can those pending conflicts be resolved? Yes. By the players? No. Which brings us back to my original point relative to this thread. If those at the club responsible for creating the conflicts choose not to resolve the conflicts, specifically those conflicts that will prevent players from participating in ODP, and those at the club responsible for creating the conflicts sit on a state level committee created to improve SC ODP do not work from that side to resolve conflict with tryouts and support his/her club's players' participation... a conflict of interests exists. If the conflict between ECNL events and ODP tryouts is chosen not to be resolved, then resolve the conflict of interests that exists IMHO within the committee.
As far as ECNL vs. USYSA... Hey, ECNL has a lot of fine teams, R3PLE has a lot of fine teams, just as good. Based on this year's R3PLE final standings ( ) can either league present all the competition SC teams can handle? My daughter's team drove to Charlotte last month for an R3PLE game with CASL. My daughter's team flew to Seattle last summer for an ECNL game with... CASL. To borrow a line from Hobo, "ARE YOU FREAKIN' KIDDING ME?"

How do they justify this scenario?

Isn't participating in the ECNL not so much about whom you play but what college coaches you have the opportunity to play in front of? For example, I doubt there were any coaches from any west coast schools at your daughter's r3pl game in Charlotte against CASL but I'm guessing there were many attending the ECNL event when they played CASL in Seattle, IF anyone on her team were interested in going to college out that way. I think it might be just as much if not more about greater exposure than about which teams you're playing. Granted many players may not be wanting more exposure, at that price. Guess it's a choice... guess you have to take the "bad" (if you see it that way) with the good.... or not.
