Matt Palmer is the Academy Dir. at SCU/MP and coached the MPSC 96 Boys a few years.

$70 seems a bit steep for a 1 day evaluation of a player. I am a club coach and wont waste some players time nor money to give them false hope.
I will go out to any field any day and for $20 only, i will tell your kid if he/she has what it takes to make the state ODP team. You can keep the $50 and buy me a beer next time you see me.

I hope Coach Taylor has the sense to rebuild the '94 Boys staff IN ITS ENTIRETY. For whatever reasons -- and I assume they were valid -- Coach Okpodu missed a bunch of important team activities last year, and his surrogate had little of value to offer.
As for Matt Parmer, I have seen him work with several age groups, and believe he will do a fine job.

You obviously haven't been apart of the '94 Boys team long. While Coach Berment had a different coaching style than Coach Okpodu, he provided the same level of training and commitment to the team. I can recall Coach Okpodu only missing less than a handful of practices/games last season. Take a poll and see how many ODP teams trained as much as or had a mini camp prior to heading to Alabama. SC ODP had a really good thing with both of them.

Winston-Salem? Pretty important event, eh? Not there.
New Orleans? Pretty important event, eh? Not there.
First day of Tuscaloosa? I'd call that important. Not there.
My thought here is simple. The Coach sets the standard for attendance and, therefore, commitment. Ask yourself about the attendance at Sunday training sessions. 6? 8? Just how effective were THOSE sessions. Ask yourself about the message of inviting a kid to Tuscaloosa who NEVER trained?
Hey, everyone LOVES Sam. He's a good guy. And when fully engaged, he's a solid trainer/coach. But please, please, let's not confuse personality with performance. When the SC team occasionally under-performed, I heard players' commitment and effort questioned. I heard modern parenting questioned. I never once heard EITHER coach question HIMSELF.

It sounds like you have your personal issues with it all. Good Luck to you with Coach Taylor as the new '94 ODP coach.
