In all honesty who cares? The other option is that the tournaments cost more. I don't personally care if the cost is paid from my left pocket or right pocket.
Tournaments are one way a club helps fund operations. Does anyone think it's an invalid method of funding operations? If it's an acceptable method of funding operations, does anyone care if part of that funding comes from lodging as opposed to tournament fees (as opposed to anything else)?
Notice the bolded words, I would say hiding the colection of money behind as kickback by forcing/pressuring a consumer borders on dishonest and an unacceptable business practice.
Now as to if I have a problem with clubs/ORG's getting a cut from hotels because they bring them business, no not a problem to me, just dont try and hide it from me or tell me that it is'nt happening when I can see that it is. If I can get a better rate because I have earned it in someway then that is my business, if you need to make more money from your tournament then charge a higher fee up front instead on sneaking money out of my wallet out the back.
