Coaches, If you are no aware, I am "running" for SCHSSCA vice president and with the Summer Clinic one week away, I want to take this opportunity to let you know some information about me, if you were not already aware, so you can make an informed decision about this position.
I am a product of South Carolina High School soccer. I played and graduated from Clinton High School. After graduating from Clinton in 1997, I attended Clemson University, where I studied Science Teaching-Physical Science. I began my teaching and coaching career at Mid-Carolina High School, in Prosperity, in 2001. There I coached soccer, football, and basketball. After five years at Mid-Carolina, I returned to my alma mater, Clinton. I have been coaching at Clinton for the past five years.
I have been a member of the SCACA for all ten years of my coach career. I have been an active member of the SCHSSCA during that time as well, attending both Summer and Winter Clinics, working the State Championship Weekend, and participating on All-State and North-South Team Selection Committees. In addition to being a member of our state organization, I have been a member of NSCAA since 2007. In 2008, I was selected as a Co-Coach for the North-South Soccer Classic, and in 2009, I began representing the SCHSSCA on the SCHSL Auxiliary Committee.
Personally, I have been married for 7 years to a very wonderful and understanding coach's wife. In January, my wife and I had our first child, Duncan. He was born on the first day of soccer practice, which made my season very interesting.
I hope this information allows you to know some information about me so that you can make an informed decision on Monday, July 25th.

Coaches:
For those of you that do not know this I am running for SCHSSCA Vice President position that is available. The summer clinic is fast approaching and I thought I would take the time to tell all of you a little about myself. I do know many of you but there are just as many of you that I do not know.
I am originally from Maryland. In Maryland I went to Arundel High School located in Gambrills, Maryland. It is then that I developed my passion for soccer as I played HS soccer for the four years that I attended. I graduated in 1980 and attended Frostburg State College in Frostburg, Maryland. While attending Frostburg I served as a student trainer and manager for the soccer program. I studied science and physical education. Upon graduation I taught science and physical education at The Chelsea School, a very small private school in Washington DC, and coached basketball and soccer.
In 1988 I moved to South Carolina and began my South Carolina, teaching and coaching career. I have been a head varsity soccer coach for the past 22 years. I began my coaching career at Newberry High School. I coached there for nine years. I then moved on to Chester HS; I remained there for nine years as well. I am currently coaching at Ninety Six HS. I will begin my fifth year there. During my 25 year career, three in Maryland, I have coached football, cross country, volleyball, and basketball.
To my knowledge I have been a member of the association for the duration of my time in SC. I have attended the Winter and Summer clinics. I have served on the All State Selection Committee, the North-South Selection Committee, and the 1A Seeding Committee. I have been selected as Co-Coach of the North - South Soccer Classic. I am also a member of NSCAA, and I hold a USSF class D license.
On the personal side I have been married for 23 years and I have six children only three of which have an interest in soccer my oldest, who played at Newberry HS and Newberry College, and my two youngest, who are currently playing for Toros Soccer Club. My wife has been a perfect coaches wife.
The fact that my children are growing up I now have the time to give back to the association. I hope that those of you that did not know who I was now know a little bit more about me. If chosen to this position I will be a advocate for South Carolina High School soccer and will represent you in a positive manner.
Ben Brown Ninety Six HS
