To Chief's point, another difference between GPOY and NSCAA is GPOY selections are based on school year rather than calendar year. State selections for Fall Girls Soccer were announced in February, and the Spring selections are announced 5/10. That schedule allows Gatorade to select and announce its National GPOY 5/23 at the end of the school year. That does put a selection scheduling pinch on the Spring season. NSCAA, on the other hand, rather than looking at Fall/Spring looks at Spring/Fall of the calendar year (2011 high school nominations for this SC soccer season will be made in November) putting the scheduling pinch on those playing Fall soccer seasons.
There is a trend in that list Coach P presented that could support Chief's comment that the thread could/should possibly be moved to the Club forum, however at this time for the GPOY nominations a player who plays high school but not club can be nominated. A player that plays club but not high school cannot.

Hmmmm... guess those current GPOY nomination rules mean that if the ECNL players are not allowed to play high school next Spring they will not be eligible for GPOY nomination.
