I heard at tonight's match that certain high school coaches are getting up to $50-$100 per player to steer their kids to certain clubs. Does anyone know if this is true? Is this ethical? If so, can you explain how the clubs justify this mercenary position?

Also, I heard that "tryouts" had been offered for certain girls recently and this is before club tryouts are even allowed by SCYSA. What gives?

If this is occurring, then it needs to be reported immediately. That's the only way it might stop.

Of course, I'm sure that NO high school coach would ever try to steer players into one club...especially with promises of playing time for high school, etc. That sort of thing is a violation. Kind of like making "voluntary" conditioning attendance a consideration for making the team.

So with a little digging
1- he said tonight's match which is 4/27
2- he is posting in club site
3- Classic team are done for regular season
4- that leaves challenge league teams

the only teams playing games last night
U14 Boys (most likely to have HS players)
CESA Challenge v CASA
U13 Girls (less likely to have varsity players but most likely to have JV)
CESA 98 Premier v CFC
LCSC 97White vs SCUFC elite
U13 Boys (less likely to have varsity players but most likely to have JV)
LCSC 97White vs SCUFC Palmetto

Therefore CESC must of been at one of these games.

Assuming this is true, and I'm not sure I do, what rule would it break? Most of youth soccer's governing bodies don't enforce the rules they HAVE, much less the ones they don't.

This makes absolutely 0 sense. Your deductive reasoning skills are mediocre (at best) and I hope you didn't spend too much time doing this. Hopefully, you're not a police detective for good reason.

The OP has 1 post which leads me to believe that they are tossing this out there arbitrarily to alert people to what may be going on. The way the OP was written also leads me to believe that he/she doesn't want to name names either. Considering these last few points it's reasonable to assume that the story about being on the sidelines during a game is fictional. It's also safe to assume that the notice is about a HS coach being paid by his/her club to persuade the players to play for a certain club. There could be many different scenarios about how this information came into the hands of the OP.

Suffice it all to say that if this is going on (and I'm sure it is because things like this don't just pop out of the air) someone needs to notify the proper authorities and hopefully the proper disciplinary measures will be taken. I won't hold my breath.
