I really did not post this so you guys could make comments about how we do the voting or how many players are on the list. Our region bylaws are set by the AD's at the region meeting and coaches have very little input on this process as it applies to several sports.
We are allowed to select a certain number of players for our teams based on our region finish. Any player who participates in the Clash or North/South is automatically All-Region and does not count towards our allotted number of players. We also are allowed to vote on 2 at-large players that are nominated by coaches. Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own players either. Our region has 7 senior players participating in either Clash or North/South this year.
Is 27 players a large number for All-Region? Yes
Are these 27 student athletes deserving of being named All-Region? Yes
There are also a few very good players in our region who weren't selected based on disciplinary issues or suspensions.
Is our region loaded? We have very good teams in our region and on any night any one team can be beat by another. Hopefully our region's depth will help each of our teams in the playoffs, but that remains to be seen. Anything can happen from here on out.
