And, Soccerboy, I' m not meaning that to jump on YOU...just the mindset that people may be reading into what's been said.

No, I understand, I get annoyed with certain things when I sit and watch games. I know that there are plenty of referees that need to be jumped on, I have had my problems with my fair share of them when I am on the field refereeing. Not that I have ever told a state referee that was on my line, "you are only there to look pretty now, anything you do from this point onward will be ignored" due to the fact that I though he was doing a terrible job on my line. There is a level of refereeng that borders on incompetance!

Really not running up the score is not giving 100%? I get up 8-0 I am putting my stronger defenders forward, my weaker defenders back and my best striker in goal. I still expect 100%, it's all about sportsmanship and development in areas where improvement is necessary. Beating a team into the ground is good for nobody.

I find it hard to validate comments from an "official" who admits he doesn't give 100%, then effectively blames it on the players. (And takes a check, no matter how small.)
Coach Chass, if an official said anything like that to you during or immediately after a game, you'd be POed to the extreme.

Whatever Backscreen, feel free to bash me, I really don't care. Go with it, maybe it will make you feel better.

Do you have children? Have you ever coached ANY sport at any level? Have you ever seen a player injured in a match/game where an official was doing a lousy job? Have you ever busted your hump in a workplace, while your colleagues didn't?
Grab a clue, schmo. This isn't a random "bash."

I've seen lots of mediocre officiating in my years. Never once has an official blamed it on the kids.

Wow, touched a nerve. Lol, if you even knew me you wouldn't have to ask me those questions. The answers would be yes, yes, yes and yes. if you want to chat PM me, I will give you my number and we can chat like civilized adults. Personal attacks aren't going to get you anywhere. And anybody that has ever seen me referee will tell you I do a damned good job!

Gotta say, simply, I doubt it. Nobody who has done those things would ever allow, much less admit to, what you did earlier in the thread.
If you've coached, you know how important effort is at ALL levels ... because THAT'S a big part of what you're teaching! You've boiled inside watching a ref mail it in. You've worried about yours and others when an official either loses, or fails to assume, some semblance of control.
I'll ask you this ...
The day you mailed it in, how many people thought you did a "damned good job"? Hell, even if you fooled THEM, how did you feel?
Again, the word is pride.

Seriously I can not believe some of the things I am seeing here. Why do it if your not going to put everything into it? It is extremely rare that I get on a referee about calls but that may be changing in the future. If you are not going to respect the kids who putting everything into this, then I don't see why I should have to teach them to respect you.
