Notsofastfriend Goal Joined: Apr 2009 Posts: 478	I wouldn't mind seeing one challenge a match per team. I am wondering if soccer needs something like hockey where the a light goes off when the ball crosses the line.

Backscreen17 brace B Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 1,062	Actually, to clarify, a human goal judge turns on a red light when he believes the puck has crossed the line in its entirety. EVERY goal is subject to video review in the NHL office in Toronto. The league office has direct communication with the rink to communicate any findings to the lead referee. FIFA and various league officials have DISCUSSED the idea of putting a GPS chip in each ball so that its precise location with relation to the goal line may be determined and reviewed. There is no such technology in the NHL.

The Archmage bench Joined: Feb 2012 Posts: 3 Whiterun	The only problem with the chip in the ball is making a ball that has the same feel as a regular one but with a gps sensor in it, at the same time making a gps sensor that can handle constant pressure and violent force while working properly. Great idea on paper, but a just a bit challenging of a task to complete.

I just always remember England's game against Germany in the world cup. Ball clearly crossed the line, but it didn't count.
