Bumping this up as a reminder. We have the support of several areas of the state, but need to make sure that all areas are represented. Make sure to talk with your AD & Principal in the next few days.

Fort Mill principal is in agreement with both proposals.

The Rule - Soccer Rule 4: Section 1; Article 1. b. page 21 of 2010-11 Rules Book Beginning with the 2012 fall season, the home team shall wear solid white jerseys and solid white socks, and the visiting team shall wear dark jerseys and socks.

To Be Changed To - The home team shall wear white or light jerseys and socks and the visiting team shall wear dark jerseys and socks.

Explanation - The effect of the new rule will be to eliminate stripes piping, chevrons, school crests, logos, etc. from home jerseys and to eliminate the ability of the home team to wear a light color other than white. In effect, home jerseys will resemble plain white T-shirts with numbers. School names and players names would be allowed. This will require all schools to purchase new home jerseys and socks by the spring of 2013 for soccer and to begin to purchase them for all sports soon thereafter. This rule will eventually be in effect for all sports....

I may be missing something, but can someone enlighten me on what is wrong with having a school crest, stripes, or logos on a jersey? I get they want to make things more uniform and easier to distinguish for officials, but is their any other purpose besides that?

Turned into Summerville principal and AD....principal seemed to be on board that the uniform proposal was a great idea....he seemed to think the championship issue was not all that big of a deal. As for the AD, I can only make an assumption of what he is thinking.

As soon as that relic exits stage left the better off this state will be when it comes to high school athletics (the SCHSL kowtows to SHS). He was old when I was coaching and I'm retired. He's had a ridiculously large presence in Flowertown for far too long!

Why isn't USC the site anyway for the soccer finals?

I received an email yesterday from the Gamecock Club notifying me of purchasing tickets for this weekend's basketball state championships at Colonial Life Arena. It's $10 per ticket and if you leave you have to pay to get in again.

Couldn't this happen for soccer?

Blue Ridge AD on board with the uniform issue. Says he will also support the move to Stone Stadium, but cites that he believes the issue for the state championship location is due to the fact that BC is free, while we'd have to pay to rent Stone.

I am more of a dog person too, but cats can be a good pet for the right person.

Anywho... the SCHSL State Finals were hosted at Stone Stadium from 1995 until a few years ago when renovations had to be done. I believe they redid parts of the field as well as irrigation and drainage. The State Finals moved to Memorial Stadium in 2009 i believe. There must be some sort of contractual obligation with Memorial. The pricing situation you speak of for basketball is similar for soccer.

I know that one of the sticking points for my boy pictured above is that, at Memorial, there are stands on both sides. In our huggybear "I'm OK you're OK. My child is entitled to this or I'll suit you!" society there is the fear that tempers (or, if you've ever been to a AAAA boys final featuring IRMO, alcohol) might flare some fisticuffs!
