ESPN should look at their rankings again - Eastside destroyed their number 4 team JL Mann 3-1 tonite. They totally dominated the game.

The fact that Wando isn't ranked in the Top 10 in the STATE is ridiculous. Yeah they had a tough loss to Ashley Ridge, but you can't tell me half of these teams are better than them. Wando plays three maybe four of these teams in Palmetto Cup, we'll see who's truly the best teams then. I don't think its right to treat Wando like that though...just my thought

Wando is ranked #6 in Class 4A this week. Sheldon Shealer does an excellent job with ESPNHS and there is plenty of the spring season for things to "shake out".

Kyle, Maybe you can answer this question: How many of these teams has Sheldon actually seen play? Hey, maybe he has seen them all, in which case, OK! But if not, and the answer is significantly less than 100%, how can the rankings be excellent? Or even valid?

Sheldon is very involved in the prep soccer scene nationally. He is very familiar with our state as well - he has attended a couple of state championships in the past 3-4 years and also the Palmetto Cup on several occasions. He has a good rapport with several prep/college coaches in this area and is also in tune with the NSCAA regional and national representatives. Again, it's early and there is a lot of soccer to be played, but a lot of time, research, and comparison go into the SCHSSCA, ESPN and NSCAA rankings. In fact, I believe the soccer rankings are probably the most scrutinized of any sports polls on the high school scene.
