As most of you know, i played for Coach Hosea at Riverside for 4 years (3 varsity and 1 JV). I have an appreciation for what an honor this is, but Ronnie Bishop should be right there next to Coach. So many of my most memorable soccer memories revolve around Coach Hosea and Coach Bishop and RHS... the 8-5 state championship over Middleton in 1994, the 4-0 state final victory in 1996 in the first year at Stone in Columbia. Coach Hosea worked with the offense and Coach B with the defense. As a GKer, I worked a lot with both coaches. I learned about the game of soccer, and looking back, how to deal with high school kids.
When Coach Hosea tried to retire in 1994 and announced it to the team after a practice before the playoffs, I remember going home and crying b/c that was my coach, and i could not imagine Riverside soccer without him and Coach B. Thankfully, they came back! My only regret is that we could not get them another state championship in 1996 when we lost to TL Hanna.
It was an honor to play for Coach Hosea and Coach Bishop... this "3 laps and 3 hills" are for you guys!
