Didn't Cardinal Newman lose to Lexington in the final last year?

? Really Backscreen? I find your posts as of late to be lacking in formative thought. Some are obvious shots at a program or two. Maybe you should get more positive with your posts, that would be a more beneficial use for this board.

As for the Palmetto Cup...there are going to be some great games. I would have to honestly say that there are a few teams that have a legitimate shot at winning it. Is Irmo going to show up with an urgency to score that they have been lacking lately? If they do, they could be a force to deal with. Is Wando going to show up and be able to string 5 great games together? If so, they could win it all. How about CN? They have some excellent players that could contribute to an excellent team and win the whole tournament. FM might string together a bunch of great games and win it also. Norman North has not been seen by anybody around SC, but if you look what the OK people are saying, they have a great shot at winning it all too. Northwestern doesn't seem to be firing on all cylinders at the moment, but then again Dom could get them playing well and could go on a nice run too.

You have to worry about injuries, who you are playing on back to back days, conditioning, etc... Some teams are going to have expectionally difficult games on back to back days that could cause problems with conditioning with the second game. This should be fun to see who wins it. Good luck to everyone involved...and the biggest thing is that I hope there are no injuries to any of the teams.

I am not sure about the results last year, have not followed the tournament as much in recent years, but am excited to follow it this year.

Soccerboy: Reread the third paragraph of your most recent post on this thread. Then, tell me why the outcome of a previous match is particularly relevant. My point: The outcome of a single early-season match on a random weeknight MAY OR MAY NOT be relevant when predicting the outcome of a team's fourth match in four days.
Take all the factors you cited. Then, for fun, throw in the fact that you're playing on a postage stamp at The Cage. And don't forget, the bus commutation and/or hotel nights.
I think the Palmetto Cup is a great, fun event and unique test. Predictable? No. As a predictor of future success? Not really.

Backscreen, agree, especially considering the field size. I know one team in particular that plays much better on a larger field than they do small.

Also, look at Wando's PC record last year and how they ended up the season.

Agreed Import, this tournament sets the tone for the rest of the season and lets you know where you stand along other teams in the state. This tournament is definitely a learning experience for the coaches and players to let them know their strengths and weaknesses, getting things tweaked so when playoffs rolls around they are prepared

do any schools bring jv players or is that against roster rules?

I do agree that the field is exceptionally small at BC, and you are correct that that could have some say in some of the outcomes. I also do agree with you that fatigue is going to play a part. Look at CN's schedule...holy crap, I feel bad for those guys! For once, I agree with some of what you said. Mark this day and time lol.
