I believe that for the top player, 10month Academy (or 2 season high level club) is the best path for development.

However, I do agree that it would be nice to have the opportunity to try and balance HS with one of the 10 month options. But....practically I don't think it's possible. Should kids have the chance? Yes. Will more than half of them regret it due to pressure given the extreme number of conflicts? Yeah, I think so.

Coaches will all say they can work it out. Just like both of our kids u13 coach said at team meetings, that they wanted the kids to play other sports. Until school basketball got in the way. And the 7th grade ball coach who at tryouts said he was fine with club soccer, just let him know. Until it happened. If that's an example of coaches working it out.......Academy and HS coexisting over the same time period is a pipe dream.
