HH-1-0 Stall PK Shoout out (3-0)
Records HH 5-1 (1-0) Stall 5-2 (0-1)

Stall is a very good team. Congrats on a good effort.

Shout out to Wayne and HHIHS on the hospitality and the good show that they put on. What an amazing game played last night. That was the most exciting game I have been a part of in my 13 years coaching and both teams had chances at the end of regulation that were saved by the keepers.

Another point in the ever-growing frustration about this whole tie/PK/must be a winner stuff. I am not trying to be a sore loser, but that game was too good to be decided like that. Win or lose, PKs should be saved for championship games and the like. I know this has been an issue for a while with many of the soccer coaches in this state, but I totally agree with how EVERYONE else does it and we leave the pitch with a perfect nil-nil tie. I understand that as a coach I need to prepare my team for PKs and situational things that are part of the game, but there has to be a better way.

Anyway, thanks for the forum to vent. Wonderful match, wonderful game, wonderful environment.

NCS: Agreed on the tiebreak. What the bureaucrats don't understand is, there are times when a tie is a perfectly honorable and desirable outcome.
I'd be for playing 10 minutes of OT, then agreeing to a tie, or simply taking a regulation tie. No PKs. There'd be an obvious exception for playoff and in-season tournament situations, and (maybe) for Region opponents.
The no OT/PK option has the added benefit of getting kids home 30 minutes earlier.

I agree that a tie after 10 minutes of overtime is a perfectly acceptable way to end a soccer game. What do people think about having a points system in region, much like the EPL? 3 points for a win, 1 point for a tie. Then either set up a tie breaker system, or play a region championship game.

For us futbol-heads, this is a no brainer. Unfortunately, futbol-heads don't run the HSL......

3/13 @ TL Hanna High School

Hanna 0:1 Wren

Boy, we wasted a lot of opportunities. I have a question for any refs reading this board (or even coaches if you want to pipe in}. Wren's goal was a PK awarded because the ref said that my defender was holding the jersey of his man in the box on a corner kick BEFORE the ball was played in. Now my experience is that the ref would warn the player but this guy went straight for the penalty. What do y'all think? By the way it happened on the other end as well but the other ref did not make that same call which of course prompted me to earn a yellow card.

Of course in the end it is our own fault for not putting one in the nets, but I was just curious what others thought.
