The seventh annual Clash of the Carolinas, sponsored by South Carolina United FC, will be held Saturday, July 6 at Daniel Islands Blackbaud Stadium, home of the Charleston Battery professional soccer team. Kickoff is 1 p.m. for the girls game and 3 p.m., for the boys match. Tickets are $10.
The all-star match is hosted by the High School Soccer Coaches Associations of North Carolina and South Carolina, respectively, and the official equipment supplier is NIKE through Lloyds Soccer of Mount Pleasant and Greer.
The Clash is the only interstate all-star soccer contest of its kind in the nation and features the top graduated prep soccer players from North Carolina and South Carolina. In the girls series, the Tar Heels own a 5-1 advantage and captured a 2-1 victory in 2012. In the boys series, North Carolina holds a 2-1-3 lead and blanked the Sandlappers 1-0 last summer.
For the first time ever the Clash will feature a live video streaming broadcast via Tourbeau Sports Group of Charleston. This company has already partnered with prep soccer this season as it aired the NIKE Palmetto Cup hosted by Brookland-Cayce High School in April and last month produced the North-South Soccer Classic at Blackbaud Stadium. DVDs will also be available from TSG after the event.
