Kyle Heise, an assistant boys soccer coach at Brookland-Cayce High School, will be the 13th inductee into the SCHSSCA Hall of Fame this weekend in conjunction with the North-South Soccer Classic sponsored by the SC High School Soccer Coaches Association and SC United FC soccer club.

Heise will become the first assistant coach to receive this honor and is the lone member of the Class of 2013 Hall of Fame. The inaugural class of 2007 featured five members. It also marks the first family combination of Hall of Fame members as his twin brother, Kevin Heise, head boys soccer coach at B-C, was a 2011 inductee. In addition, Brookland-Cayce High School now joins Eastside High School as the only school with multiple representatives in the SCHSSCA Hall of Fame.

A native of Cayce, S.C., and 1989 graduate of BCHS, Heise has been a boys soccer staff member the past 24 years. Since 1991 the Bearcats have tallied 391 wins and boast a winning mark of better than 70%. B-C has won two Class 3A Lower State Championships, captured 12 region titles, reached the Semifinals six times, finished ranked in the Top 10 on 20 occasions, registered 21 straight playoff appearances, and qualified for the NSCAA Team Academic Award six consecutive years.

Individually, Brookland-Cayce has produced two Gatorade State Players of the Year, two NSCAA/adidas State Players of the Year, one NSCAA All-American, six NSCAA All-South Region members, one NSCAA Scholar All-American, four Wendys High School Heisman BCHS Male Student-Athlete recipients, and 14 SCSoccer.com Super 22 selections during that span.

A 1993 graduate of the University of South Carolina, Heise is on the SCHSSCA Executive Board and holds several positions with the National Soccer Coaches Association of America as a member of the Boys Spring National Rankings Committee and serves as the Chairperson for the South Region Girls Coach of the Year.

He was honored in 2012 at Kansas City, Mo., as the 2011 NSCAA National Assistant Coach of the Year and the 2011 NSCAA South Region Assistant Coach of the Year the only coach ever from South Carolina to receive either award. This past January, he and his brother were recognized at Indianapolis, Ind., by the NSCAA with a Certificate of Appreciation for their contributions to high school soccer. In 2001, Kyle became the third recipient of the prestigious Dick Walsh Service Award presented by the SCHSSCA.

Heise is a co-founder and co-director of the NIKE Palmetto Cup, which was first hosted by B-C in 1993 and celebrated its 21st annual event this past spring. The NIKE Palmetto Cup was named The Southeasts Premier Boys High School Soccer Tournament by StudentSports.com and is utilized as an annual barometer for EliteSoccerReport.com and the NSCAA ranking committees. It has attracted teams from the states of Alabama, Alaska, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Virginia, as well as featuring the top Palmetto State teams annually.

The Heises founded the Kickin Around soccer newsletter in 1993 that serviced the Palmetto State for five years until they incorporated that publication into an online version entitled, SCSoccer.com. Both media tools received the official endorsement by the SCHSSCA and have become models of promotion for other organizations. He has been an integral member of the national high school soccer scoreboard currently hosted by Eurosport and previously produced by Soccer Information Systems.

In addition to his prep soccer duties, Heise is a founding member of the Congaree Rapid Soccer Association and resides on its Executive Board. The Midlands area soccer club is celebrating its 20th year in 2013. At the collegiate level, Heise serves as the play-by-play announcer for University of South Carolina mens and womens soccer at GamecocksOnline.com. In the early 1990s Heise served as the Sports Information Director for the mens soccer program at USC.
