Westwood has a brand new stadium and is right off the highway for easy access.
River Bluff will have the most impressive stadium in the state and is also just off the highway.

Oops, sorry. Both of those venues are for football only I believe.

Kevin - Did Skip elaborate on why Gilbert was chosen opposed to other midland schools, ie Spring Valley, Irmo, Blythewood, Lexington, etc.? Were other schools asked, but declined to host? No offense to Gilbert and thankful that they are willing to host, but am concerned about the ability to handle the parking and crowd (visitors side).

Beach: Any elaboration would imply a logical selection process. Sorry to disillusion you. We ARE talking SCHSL, after all. A joke.

Other schools were asked and they declined. All the schools you named. Gilbert has a nice stadium , but the field will only be 56 yds wide. The parking will be spread out but I think they will have enough space. Now if it will stop raining and let the field dry out. NOTHING can be done at this point. Blame Richland 1 for not having memorial's field ready for a state championship weekend!

56 yards wide? Wow. Let's make it 80 long, and play 8v8. Can anyone here imaging a football championship played on a field 35 wide? Or baseball with 80-foot basepaths?
Like I said: Joke.
BTW, the best SCHSL-member playing surface I have seen in 5
years is Ashley Ridge. Haven't seen it this year. Last year: magnificent.

The coaches need to put their feet down on this. A small field for state championship games is absurd. It devalues the experience and the achievement.

I know they aren't a member school... but Heathwood Hall has one of the best natural surfaces around. Is the SCISA State Championship taking place on the same day? If not, could that venue be considered a viable option?
