Has anyone heard if there is a new rule that goes into effect this July with regards to transfers from school to school. Had a friend who was told that if both principals and the superintendent of a district sign off, a student can changes schools without being made to sit out a year.

Any of you HS coaches heard of this?

Yes I have heard that as well. In fact, got that answer from Skip Lax when asking about a transfer.

Let us know what you find out! Speaking of school transfers, do the current guidelines dictate that if a student transfers from a private school to a public school, he/she has to sit out a season, or is that only applicable for school transfers going from one public school to another?

Among the current acceptable transfer situations that do not require sitting out a year:

C. A student transfers from a nonmember school to a member school.
1. The student's parents must live in the attendance area of the member school.
2. The student cannot have participated in the sport in which he wishes to be certified during the current school year at the school from which he is transferring. If a
student transfers from out-of-state to in-state with a bona fide change of residence, this ruleis not in effect.
3.The student must have been enrolled in the nonmember school for at least 45 school days prior to transferring.
