The 2014 Clash of the Carolinas, sponsored by SC United FC along with the NCSCA and SCHSSCA,will be played July 12 at Blackbaud Stadium on Daniel Island, SC as part of a triple-header with the USL Pro Charleston Battery.

This will be the eighth consecutive year that the senior all-star game will be held which features the top seniors from South Carolina versus their North Carolina counterparts.

North Carolina leads the girls series 5-1-1, while the Tar Heels hold a 3-1-3 advantage over the Sandlappers in the boys series.

Coaches from the Palmetto State are as follows:

Girls Co-Coaches - Josef Lorenz (Dorman) & Dave Snyder (Bishop England)
Boys Co-Coaches - Ben Schoen (Waccamaw) & David Wilcox (Christ Church)

The Clash of the Carolinas Selection Meeting will be held April 6 at 10:00 a.m. at Brookland-Cayce High School.

I see where the Charleston Battery will host the Charlotte Eagles on July 12! That makes it a true NC/SC triple-header at Blackbaud Stadium!

Clash of the Carolinas players selected for the all-star game are in the process of being contacted/confirmed for the weekend. We hope to release the S.C. boys and girls rosters on Sunday, April 13.

Yes, it certainly appears that way! But, I also heard that some of the coaches of the top teams did not even nominate their players by the deadline. Shame on them for not wanting to recognize their players. The coaches on the committee can only vote for the players nominated.

You are correct- they were even reminded several times but to no avail- something about the process being too "political"

As a supporter of a school that had deserving players not picked, I can attest that the process is NOT political. The coach (whether a member of the coaches association or not) only has to fill out the form. If it was not done, then those players were not eligible for selection. I only hope that two of our 12 seniors will find a way to make the North-South game.

My understanding, from a coach, is that non SCHSSCA members are not considered for the Clash. Maybe someone can clear that up for me.

Not as coaches for the game. Their players are certainly considered if nominated.
