Look, Pjay, I get it. I too have access to eurosportscoreboard. I too have witnessed the dominance of ritzy private schools over their barely-worthy tiny public school opponents. I've coached club soccer and I've worked at high end private schools. I've played and coached in South Carolina for the last 10 years, I know these teams and their communities.
What I don't think you get is the fact that in competitive athletics anything is possible. Once a team achieves a critical mass of players with similar skill levels (lets say 18 players for arguments sake), there exists a certain parity amongst teams. If a coach can take away the edge of these purportedly invincible teams by man-marking key players, adjusting defensive tactics, and instilling in their teams a psychological imperative, I assure you, anything is possible. My original post was meant to place Saluda Girls Soccer alongside Saluda Boys Soccer; a program that has gone from 1-15 to 18-1 within two seasons and is currently competing for the Upper State Title (you can check that out on eurosportscoreboad as well). Saluda Girls Soccer has a great coach, great community support, and some very special players. Within two seasons I promise you they will push CCS, ILHS, and SJHS to their limits in the Upper State Tourney.
And for the record, I don't coach Saluda Girls Soccer. I coach the Boys program. And I've got 6 players at Liverpool FCA-SC with more making the commute in the upcoming season. The ones that aren't playing club are working to help make ends meet and training on their own. We make things work. Have faith in the little guys and amazing things can happen.
