I'd love to see it happen too, but I don't think you get it.

School size has a HUGE impact on sports teams due to the number of students you have to pick from. No coincident that the two largest schools in the state have both their girls and boys teams into the Upper/lower state games today and tomorrow. And on the girls side it is even more pronounced with the largest school going to 7 straight state championships.

And it is hard for a town like Saluda with 3000 people to compete with Bishop England which draws students from an area with 500,000+ people. You get whoever lives in your town, they get the best and brightest and wealthiest kids in the area.

On top of that soccer is very socio-economic and people who can afford $11k a year for private school can afford soccer camps and soccer club and good equipment and playing fields and soccer tournaments against other top teams etc etc. Which is why these private and magnet schools have such a huge advantage. How many of your players play in a top club? I bet every BE player does.

They are playing Wando and Mann and holding their won against them. The best public 2a school in the state lost to Lancaster 3 out of the 4 times they played them and Lancaster got whomped by Fort Mill and Irmo who aren't even in the Upper state finals. (BE has been in the 14 of the last 15 lower state championships)

Maybe you will be the team to do it, but I doubt it. Dorman has a better chance of beating Mann tonight than a 2a public school has of winning the 2a state championship.
