A common question with tournaments is "who wins"?
Simply put, if a match ends in a tie (i.e., 0-0) and overtime is played, then penalty kicks decide the "winner".
However, if a contest ends in a draw and no overtime is played, then the penalty kicks are used only to determine who advances in a bracket format so that match would be recorded as a tie.

Kyle, Eurosport scoreboard is formatted to call it a tie if you put regulation as a tie and put the pk score in. Is there any way to change that? We beat Wade Hampton for our tournament championship 4-3 based on ot and penalty kicks...so should we post it as 4-3 and make a note? A common question with tournaments is "who wins"?

Yes! Since your match featured overtime and penalty kicks then that would be a Win/Loss instead of a Tie. Therefore, you are correct in the 4-3 scoreline and then make a "post" with your comments of the PK's (i.e., PK #-#).

Example: Last year we played Strom Thurmond and went to PK's we basically posted it as
Score: MV 5 - ST 4 PK's: MV 4 - ST 2

Coach, There is a video out there of your boy's goal at the end of regulation. I will see if I can get it to you...sickest shot I have ever seen and right at the moment that J.J. was about to blow the whistle. Unbelievable! That was a great game. I cannot take many more of those.

CJ,
Yes, #7's dad tapes all of our games and he posted it. He sent it to ESPN. That was amazing. TBH-the player's name is Andrew Pope, the resident minister. After the game he shared the following with me. I had taken him out when we were down 1-3 and he was upset with his play. He said he prayed for something special to happen. We got the 2nd goal back then I subbed him in and the "heavenly" goal sent it to OT. After we got on the bus, he checked his phone and during the game he was sent a text from his minister asking him to deliver a message to the youth about the power of prayer. Now that is something special!

That is pretty incredible. Sounds like I should have stuck around for that match. If there is a way to post the link of the shot on here, I would love to see it

Here is the link but it may take a minute or two to download from the site. The kid taking the shot was our last man back. We had pushed our GK into the box for the corner. https://www.filesanywhere.com/fs/v.aspx?v=8b6e6b8f5a636fb66c6eIt is also on FB pages (Damon Douglas Dixon or WHHS Soccer).
