Looks like we will know soon what will happen with private schools and possibly moving to 5 or 6 classifications.

Thoughts?

I think a 5 or 6 classification system would be better, essentially football has a 7 classification system now.

Our region would be Region 5 of 5A and would be very tough in almost all sports. Dutch Fork, Irmo, Lexington, River Bluff, and White Knoll. I love it for the close distances and rivalries, but it's going to be tough to win!

I'm all for it. According to the last ADM we, as one of the smaller 4A (48th in size) schools were closer 95th Seneca than to 17th Rock Hill.

As has been discussed on these boards many times, school size certainly isn't the only factor in being competitive, but it certainly doesn't help to have that big of a disparity.

My AD told me that they voted down the 6 classifications and voted for the 5 classifications today. Regions would be released later this year.

Does this mean the divisions and regions posted on another forum are likely to be the way the SCHSL goes?

Some of the concerns mentioned in several newspaper articles are Bishop England winning consecutive football championships, 17 volleyball championships and Christ Church on a 50+ game football winning streak.

Does this new system address any of those concerns?

Also, is the SCHSL still going to allow divisions to sub-divide for football state championships as in the past when there have been 7 state football champions- Big 16/4A Division 2, two 2A state champions, etc.....
