I am not directly impacted by lacrosse, thankfully. But we have played a lot of teams who are directly impacted. Who has played at JL Mann lately?? The fact is that lacrosse destroys fields. And if you are lucky enough to have turf, lacrosse litters the field with excess lines since boys and girls lacrosse are as different as softball and baseball... same general objective but two totally different sets of rules.

I would agree with Shilo that i cannot write my true feelings on lacrosse.

As a rebuttal, i would submit that as a coach of a high school soccer team, i would request that lacrosse be moved off our season. I feel that the damage that lacrosse does to the game field inhibits my players' ability to demonstrate their skills thus reducing their ability to earn a scholarship. I also feel that a team that has significant lacrosse damage to their field has a distinct advantage b/c they are able to practice on that field on a daily basis.

Here's another idea... how about we move lacrosse to the baseball field? The goalie circles would be close to if not beyond the foul line.

Coaches,
I have coached in North Carolina and Boys soccer is in the Fall, let me tell you that you are the red headed step child! Football is king that time of year, You only get the stadium field on Monday or Tuesday, and some Friday nights, no chance to make money on the gate, no tournaments, and if it rains at all , game will be canceled. Why? Soccer will tear up the fields! Jason you want to see lines! They are everywhere and some fields have so much design work it is hard to see the center circle. Many schools have to find other places to play, and practice. I had to practice and play games at a Town Rec field . NO stands, no control for a gate. We have 2 full practice fields at WA and a small field that the Band uses every day. Moving either sport to the spring will create a problem with practice. Every field is being used after school by football and Band. Even Baseball and softball are practicing right now. Not sure how you squeeze in another sport right now. I share Shilo's frustration, we don't have a Boys lax team yet, but when we do I can see me having to practice some nights under rented lights due to lack of fields space after school. Winter would work well as LAX would have the whole place to themselves , however Field damage would be done and not recover till April or May at the earliest.

I agree that we are fine as we are right now. I played soccer in this state when it was a winter sport and son it was real (and I mean real) cold. We are in our first year on a turf field and I do all of the scheduling for the stadium. Although it wasn't easy to schedule boys and girls track, soccer, jv soccer, and lax, we were able to make it work since lax finishes early.

Another point that needs to be stressed is that football happens EVERY night at our stadium in the fall with youth teams, middle schools, JV, and varsity. I don't think it would be possible to move any stadium sport to the fall.
