Kyle, just how much would it cost a player to participate? I feel VERY confident that a players school would be more than glad to help offset the cost of a player representing their school. Second I feel that most parents would also contribute. Darn look at ALL the expenses that most of us that have kids in club ball have incurred over the years. This is just a drop in the bucket. If a child's parents can't afford this then use the money you have available. I feel VERY confident our school can and would contribute to this event, if they had a representative....com on less griping and more out of the box thinking...but we must make it happen....it's about kids and soccer, NOT lavish events...

The North-South Soccer Classic WILL be played June 11th at Mount Pleasant, SC ... I just spoke with Dr. Tom Reilly, North-South Soccer Classic Director and spoke earlier today with Dick Smith, S.C. State Soccer Chairman, and we will stage the North-South Soccer Classic this year.

Details are forthcoming, but the main issue is simply money. Please keep the donations/sponsorships coming, because in the end, we've got to pay the bills.

Particulars have not been worked out nor format, but the game will go on.

Thanks to those that have expressed your views, opinions, experiences, etc.!!! It's certainly more than a game.

Stay tuned for details and ways that the prep soccer community can pitch in and help make this year's event a reality!!!

Thank you SCHSL, and you coaches for working so hard to make it happen. Knowing that playoffs are coming up, I think some help from other coaches could be used, even though money is obviously a big aspect, I am sure volunteers are needed as well. Please let everyone know what could be done.

make this a one day deal and tell the selected players they need to show up with a C note in their pocket and play the damn game.

You don't need a four day event - most of the players don't care, they just want to play. And you can bet if one or two of the top 20 can't or won't show, the #21 and 22 players will jump on it with both feet.

Practice in late morning, have a big picnic lunch, afternoon break, and play games at 6pm and 8pm. veryone hangs out that night and goes home next day.

Its about the game wayne, not having 17 sponsers and four days worth of whatever

I want everyone to understand what is going on and what has happened. Without trying to offend anyone there is alot more to this than meets the eye. Every angle was looked at and discussed. You don't charge the players to play because everyone is not as fortunate as some of us. Each High School that sends a player is already paying for their insurance coverage at around $50 a player so the H S's are doing their part. I am not in favor of the responsibility of asking a kid to drive to Charleston in the morning play a game and drive him self home that evening. Again some would not be able to get there. We have experienced many more problems than people can realize. We will meet on Sun and do our best to put on this game but will not do anything in haste just to have one. I do appreciate people offering to help. To all the coaches I know now I'll see you at the state championships helping us work the gates and concsssions for two days because that money goes to N/S also. We have always put the benefits and welfare of the players first since we started this game with only two of us meeting at the clinic in Columbia years ago. I know we will do what is right and what is in the best interest of all 80 players.

North-South Soccer Classic Selection Committee will meet Sunday, April 24th at Brookland-Cayce HS at 9:00 a.m.

We will be meeting in the East Wing (facing State Street behind the marquee board).

You may could also require the schools to belong to a N/South assoc.($15 fee?)for a player to be considered for the team.Similiar to how you do the coaches who don't get consideration to coach in this event.I would also suggest that you could include alternate(players)who would help run things behind the scenes, if needed they could fill a void.They would of course be required to foot their own way/or school would.Another source of revenue may be to have some potential sponsors for T's lined up if a kid in their school's region,area gets a selection to this team.If a player is selected then they've committed to donate @ 50.00.
