Nick and Phil, aren't those the coaches first names? Seems appropriate to be called what your mama named you.

always wrong,
I got my money on Lower in this one! You need to slowly re-read Lower's prior post. Sounds like the main thing that was average, besides Lex., was Jamal's work rate.

Nick and Phil is what I refer to them when I am with them so it would only be natural for me to refer to them that way when I talk about them on this post. Both are friends and both I have a great deal of respect for. You just got done saying that Jamal could have easily scored 2 0r 3 against lexington. Since when is scoring 2 0r three goals easy. You must be quite the player to be able to go into a game and score like that. And Lexington is no slouch. I agree with Pappy they need to be more consistant and they did play well vs a strong not average SA team. "SA did not look very good at all. Jamal only tried when the ball was in his area." "After everyone on this message board talking, I expected SA to be much better" Quote form your post lowerstate4a my question to you is If you are not calling SA average then when you said you exspected them to be much better, then I would have to ask you much better then what? Average, I could have misunderstood what you were driving at but it was an honest mistake if it was a mistake at all.

i stand corrected, after speaking with several players.. it was planned to do exactly what they did... slow down the shot.. learn where they were aiming.. and block it when it counts...

The ref tried ejecting an adult on the lexington side.... shortly after SA adminstrator came to the student section to ask the students to remove their "articficial noise makers" (a horn and a cow bell)

Jamal knows when he has to score and when he can take a breather.. he has a bad time with cramps and i saw him stretch in the 2nd half on field briefly.

Lexington players loss all my respect as two flagrant hand balls were witness, one was called..

in one play, outside sa's box, a player tripped.. went into the fetel(sp?) position and threw the ball over his shoulder into play.

in the 2nd half, after the scoreboard was stopped at 2 min.. the ball was being kicked out of balls and a player jumped in the air, grabbed the ball and tried to throw it into play.. receiving a yellow card.

Who were the refs? Sounds like chaos last night.

The upper level players in HS generally score like that against average competition. I thought that 2 or 3 goals was in his grasp, or at least a few more quality chances. I thought against Lexington, that the score might be low like it was, but that the play from SA would be much better. I thought they could have dominated the match last night and that just was not the case. I guess maybe I was expecting too much.

Then you have every right to call Coach Savitz and Coach Finotti by their first names if you are friends with them.

Not really sure, but one of them looked like C. Hodge from Columbia.

Lowerstate4a,
We all have our right to set expectations as high or low, as we like. Personally I expected SA to win and therefore was not disappointed. At the end of the day I would think the win is remembered more then the score. For example St. Giles won a club State Championship in every boys and girls age group this past fall. I could not tell you the score of very many of those 8 Championship games but I do know who won them.
Lastly, when you say "The upper level players in HS generally score like that against average competition. I thought that 2 or 3 goals was in his grasp," Who scores 2 or 3 against Lexington this year? There are clearly a lot of quality players in our state how many of them have a hat-trick or better against a team of Lexington's caliber this year. Maybe some of them have. If you could give me the name of a couple of them it may help me understand where you are coming from.

Is that a conflict of interest that Chuck Hodge referees Lexington games? I remember his son playing against mine some years ago at Lexington.

the ref making all the calls.. poorly or justly..

older man, balding or all grey.. little heavy set.

he is the same ref who reffed the SA/Irmo game in which he kicked out a SAHS student. as well as gave an Irmo defender a straight red 8 minutes into the first half.
