Never lost the ball just bouncing at the top of the box. In the old days I remember players heading the ball from the hands of keepers and scoring. I agree then that if it is in the hands it is control.... but bouncing.
I also remember that when the rule was first implemented there was the 6 seconds to get rid of the ball and bouncing was double possession. At least it was being called that way.
