Here's a simple observation on the keeper bouncing the ball question. We all seem to be aware of the rule that if a keeper releases control of the ball he cannot pick it up again. The question is does this particular ref think bouncing the ball is releasing control. So, the first time the keeper bounces the ball and grabs it back, if the ref doesn't blow the whistle he is saying that he does not think that bouncing the ball is losing control. I haven't experienced a time when a ref didn't allow the keeper to bounce the ball - since the rule change. As a coach I'm not happy with the idea - ever see what happens when a bounced soccer ball hits a sprinkler head? It's not a pretty sight! Panic everywhere! This might be a question the coach or captain asks the ref during the meeting at the start of the game.
