The 2006 CESA North-South Soccer Classic will be held Saturday, June 17 at Furman University's Stone Soccer Stadium in Greenville, S.C. Admission is $5 and the girls match will kickoff at 12:00 noon with the boys game following at 2:00 p.m.

This is the first year that the matches will be held in the Upstate together as the Carolina Elite Soccer Academy is the title sponsor of the event. The boys matches were held in Mount Pleasant from 1989-2005 at three different sites: Wando High School; Bishop England High School; and the College of Charleston Soccer Stadium. The girls event was held in Greer from 1997-99 at Greer Memorial Stadium before joining the boys game in Mount Pleasant the past six years.

This annual event, which recognizes the achievements of the Palmetto State's top seniors, is sponsored by the South Carolina High School Soccer Coaches Association. The boys game has been held every year since 1989 (18 years), while the girls match has been held each season since 1997 (10 years). The North squad leads the boys series 10-5-2, but the South team won last year's game 3-0 at Mount Pleasant's College of Charleston Soccer Stadium. The South team leads the girls series 5-4-0 and the South squad has won the past two meetings.
