i think what most of us want to know is how did the ball perfom in match play? did any one like that ball? is the ball still sticky and made cheaply?

is the board going to be filled with post game woes that "the ball stuck to my foot" or will we be able to have a good game based on skill and talent rather than how good the ball actually is

the contract is worthless if the state championship ends up being decided by the ball.

Last year these were clearly a detriment to the quality of play - period. end of statement. A year and a half ago I bought my son 25 of the Nike World Cup replica (the $19.95 version of the $180 real one) and the were infintely better that the Spoilding balls.

Pay them the contract, put up their banner and buy match balls that won't influenece the outcome of the most important games of the year.

...And I am sure you will pay for the lawsuit for violation of a contractural agreement.

Like it has been said, due to the "suckiness" of their balls, Spalding needs to understand that their ball is inferior, if it were better then certainly it would be used more. Outside of little league rec, I have never seen them used, practice or otherwise, high school, college, or professional. Contracts can be made with them, great, but the can stipulate that the ball does not have to be used for soccer! Change the contract! It is great that you and Dick honor the contract and the HSL, but what is more important, them or the game and the kids playing it? Instead of putting up with crap how about fight for something better.

This doesn't have to do with the finals ball, but last year I made a young coaching error and I purchased three Nike Total 90 Aerow Hi-Vis balls for games. Apparently the same balls used round the world in professional matches are not good enough for the high school league. Needless to say instead of three awesome game balls I was stuck with three $120 practice balls. My mistake, yes, for not checking first but come on.

Thats a good one soccer. Yeah, how unfortunate is it that some quality match balls cant be used just becuase it isn't stamped with the high school league's(yes I know its a national thing)approval!

"Chuck"

If Lander University had a contract with Hyundai for university employees to use their cars exclusively, you would drive their cars whether you liked them or not or risk violating the contract, and perhaps, losing your job. You would do this without public dissent until the contract was over. Then, you would go through proper channels to urge your employer to consider another car manufacturer. The university would only consider this if another sponsor came along with a better offer, as the good of the overall university, not merely your own, is what the university must consider. You would act in a professional manner because that is what Lander expects of you. You would not refer to their cars as "sucky" in public, especially if you had never driven one. Perhaps you would even try one to see if it was any good. Then, you might call it "sucky", in private, and have a legitimate reason. But, you would not say so publicly, because that would be unprofessional. And, of course, you are a professional, aren't you?

You just don't get it! There has not been one good thing said about the Spalding balls from previous years. The HSL and Spalding need to take into account that Spalding does not manufacture nor focus on soccer equipment for upper level play. That said , accomodations need to be made. Great they are the official sponsor, put the banner up, announce that on the PA, put it in the program, whatever...they will get their proper respect and will be duely noted, thank you Spalding for supporting the HSL. Now come this weekend, if the ball is able to hold up to the level of play and not dictate how anyone plays the ball, then I will say "Great job Spalding" But when players feel trapped and limited as to what they can do when they have the ball becuase it is a poor one, then yes complaints will be made. You can sit back and put up with it, but some will not, especially when a better ball can be found in any teams bag. I am just saying that contracts can be made with exceptions and that changes can be made. But nothing changes until voices are heard!

NO YOU don't get it. The contract says we use their ball. We are not using the ball that was in question in past years. We are trying another ball. If you are unable to grasp that, I am not the stupid one. Since when is upholding a current, legal contract Communism? Now THAT is stupid.
