Too many people rip the selection committees without understanding the process.

First, only a player's coach can nominate a player. A coach from an opposing team cannot nominate a player.

Second, in order for a coach to be able to nominate a player s/he must be a member of SCACA and the SCHSSCA. I have never heard of a school NOT paying for these memberships which total about $55. A coach's lack of this membership has been an issue in previous years and has cost players the ability to be nominated.

Third, I was honored to be a part of the 1A/2A girls All-State Committee and the South Boys Committee. There were many nominations who I am sure are tremendous players, and understandably, it is hard for coaches to see players outside of their team and their opponents. This is why it is vital that a coach lists a player's SOCCER accomplishments on the nomination form.

Especially in the All-State meeting, we had numerous forms that were blank outside of general info such as name, year, position, etc. Many forms for midfielders and forwards did not even have stats. How are we supposed to compare players when a coach leaves off data?

Before you blast the committee about why so-and-so did not make it, ask their coach if they nominated the player and if they completly filled out the nomination form.

If you are not a member, and have no one at the meeting to speak on behalf of your player, do you think that player has much chance of being selected?

Did you sell your PLC Cup on EBay yet? You said that a nomination cannot be submitted if the coach is not a member.Is it not correct that even if your coach chooses not to join, that a nomination can still be submitted for consideration.

Middle school is a fine place to learn quantitative observations. Sending in a piece of paper only will not be great for kids chances. If you're not a SCACA member, AHEM, find someone who can help. We did and we've got a girl on the squad.

Find a region coach, arm him/her with information on your player's behalf, and pray they present a good case. No politics, Hillary.
