I thought that the referee did a very good job with match (DF vs Irmo). I did not see where you could get that he did not call the game by the laws. I guess I was watching a very different game than SOCRDAD!

Flying Soccer, are you crazy? the ref totally didnt have control of the game. he let things slide continuosly. instead of calling fouls on DF he would give irmo the throw. this happened multiple times

another blatant foul was by DF in the 2nd half. leo muckusky was hacked by 2 defenders and then he juked both of em and was hacked again. the ref made the right call by letting the play develop to see if there was advantage. the ref did make the call for irmo. but after the play a defender blatantly steppend on the irmos player leg. marcus vick of the VT football team was kicked off the team for such a foul and yet the DF defender wasnt even carded.

another time was a blatant foul committed by DF on jugal. the defense was of DF was clearly of the hacking type. obviously DF couldnt keep up with the skill level of these young stars. once again no card.

but towards the end when DF was getting desperate. their were numerous fouls "committed" by irmo that did not necessarily need a card. i think there were two. The first was on Acree; he received a yellow.. Then over the intercom of the entire stadium a parent/fan asked the ref "if he needed to leave the field" which was ridiculous.

the calls throughout the game were somewhat consistent but when it got to the end he started handing unneeded cards to multiple irmo players. acree and monroe if im not mistaken.

and that stoppage time was well over 3 minutes. which was also unnecessary.

overall, im not complaining, im just pointing out how i saw it. there were just a few minor inconsistencies.

anyways, IRMO totally dominated DF. and i was quite suprised it wasnt 3/4 to 0.

It must be noted that if a foul occurs after the ball has crossed the touchline, then there cannot be a free kick given. Even if there is misconduct, the correct restart would be a throw. Stoppage time is in the opinion of the referee, and alot of times 3 minutes can occur from simply lots of subs, people taking too long to take kicks, 2 cards, these things can add up, when you figure he probably wasted 30 seconds to a minute writing down the name of the player he's carding.

ihs12,
A DF fan/parent was allowed to use the PA to say that a ref should leave the field?

2004Striker,

A DF fan/parent was allowed to use the PA to tell a ref that a player should leave the field

2004striker. The PA announcer took it on himself to assist the referee and remind him that a carded player should leave the field. This is bush league on the part of the announcer that should take no part in the game. From the stands, it looked as if he carded the goalie from DF as well as Acree or one of the other Irmo players. It certainly was not clear from the stands exactly who was getting the cards

benp, you are correct on the restart. The concern I had was that the player (Jugal) was blasted from behind with no attempt on the ball (it was out of bounds) and while the ref did talk to the DF player, he teaches in the certification course that that type of foul is a definite yellow.

Should have been a red card - Intent to injure.

Socrdad,
That was nice of DF announcer to help the ref do his job. Must be some thoughtful folks at DF.

Actually, I thought the center referee did a bad job both ways. He made many inconsistent calls for both teams.

As far as the assistance from the booth. That was me and call it bush league if you want, but with the bad job having been done all night and the fact that the player had moved into position for a restart and the ref having no clue, I thought he needed a reminder.

I don't remember there being any rules about anouncements being made and I have been at games where a player is given a card and they have annouced that the player had to be subbed out. I have also been at games where the announcer is the lead cheerleader for the team.

Anyway, at least I have the guts to call my shots using my real name and not hide behind and alias (ihs12) to give mine. I think it is quite humerous to read what you write in anonymity (although I am pretty sure who you are.....lol).

As I said before, Irmo got what they deserved. They outplayed DF the whole game. Good luck to Irmo the rest of the year.

If DF is lucky, they will take this shot in the mouth, come out swinging and get a rematch somewhere in the playoffs. Maybe, they will match Irmo's intensity and it will be a better game. If the same intensity as last night occurs again, DF might be in for a couple more losses and a short playoff run.
