Good choice not to guess GVLsoccerdad because you would have been wrong like Lowerstate4A. But anyways, ya'll are telling me you would like to get called out and cut in front of the whole team. You can't possibly think what he did was right.

I say that it is not right for any coach in any sport to Point a child out. Even if the Kid does suck. At the same time I don't think it is fare to attack a coach behind his back. Confront him. ALL in ALL this is a game. People make mistakes. It is the coaches job to make sure the kid doesn't make the same mistakes over & over again. What doesn't kill us makes us stronger. I hope whoever the kids are/were learned from it and play twice as hard this year.

if you think Russell Shelley lacks class then you obviously do not know what class is.

hey cheers, I heard you turned down a soccer scholarship in order to be a cheerleader. is that true?

CAB12...I never said I thought it was right or agreed with how things happened but to say that Russell lacks class because of it...IMO...is off base. There are always two sides to a story and this story is no different.

First let me say that I know Russell Shelley and I have coached against him. He is a great coach and for what it is worth he is also a great player. If what they say is true with him pointing the kid out and kicking him off the team in front of everyone, then I am sorry I think that could have been handled in another way. That is my opinion and that is all it is. I do find it hard to believe that Russell would do something like that but hey I was not there. Every coach loses their cool from time to time. But as a coach it is our responsibility to mold the minds of young players. If all the Coach/ Adult is teaching them is that it is OK to take your anger out on others then I think that is wrong. Teach the kids the true game of soccer. Leave everything out on the field. If a coach does not want a kid on their team then do it in private with their parents. On the other hand if a child as a problem with a coach dont talk about them behind their back. Confront them.

So let me be clear with this. NO RUSSELL DOES NOT LACK CLASS BUT IF HE OR ANY OTHER COACH DID THIS THEN I WOULD SAY THEY MADE THE WRONG CHOICE!

Lowerstate4A where do you get your info. Turning down a soccer scholarship in order to be a cheerleader?

I wasn't there and I am not describing it, cabj12 is the one that said it. I am just saying if a coach does it in that manor then it is wrong. Also read what I wrote above. I said I find it hard to believe that Coach Shelly did this. I coached against him when he was at Sumter High. He did so much for that area and to tell the truth they miss him a lot. Also read other places you will find out that I support coach Russell Shelley & Nikki. Trust me I know both of them and think very highly of them. My opinion was Nikki was a better player than a coach but I see that I was wrong. I guess down in Sumter I only saw everything Sumter did was Russell's doing. Now I see that Nikki could have had a lot to do with it as well. So before you even start to point things out about people please read everything they write. I support all teams, all soccer players and all coaches. I just love the sport. Of course if I could only pick one team then it would be Lexington. Of course that is were I played!

GVLSoccerDad let me ask you. If your child was on a team and a coach was to do this to your child how would you respond? I am hoping as a father you would confront the coach. I am a father and trust me if a coach was to treat my child like that then I would also make sure the coach knows where he stands. Heck I would do it for your child. Kids are people too and deserve respect. If a coach feels that a kid is not up to par then you talk to them away from others. Trust me 9 times out of 10 the kid knows he missed up. I am not saying Russell did this and if you say he didn't then I would have to believe you because like you said you were there. I just want to hear what you would do. From one parent to another.

GVLsoccerdad, I would like to hear your side of the story. It is obvious that Russell Shelley is a great coach or he certainly wouldn't be coaching premier level teams at the best club in the state. Nor do I think he has no class but clearly in this situation he showed none.

And SCSkeeper, if I was the kid that got cut then I could atleast say I have been on an "A" team at one point in my life unlike you.
