I posted this somewhere the other day, but since a thread has been started, I'll respond here as well.
Apparently, the board started to slow down last Thursday. My initial thought was that all of the pictures uploaded to the Message Board had really eaten up a lot of space on the server. However, after spending several hours removing the pictures and instead providing links to those pictures, it did indeed free up about 50 megs of space, but didn't fix the issue. But, at work on a T1 line it's taking me 30 seconds just to turn pages, login, etc., and at home using RoadRunner, it's about 35 seconds. Ridiculous!
Then, on Saturday, I completely rebuilt the forums, membership directory, database structure, etc., and again nothing cleared up the problem. After discussions with the internet service provider for this domain, which was running at a normal speed and time -- everything exept the Message Board and its' corresponding Control Panel -- I contacted the software company for this service.
Ironically, the software company that developed these features, InfoPop, has been absorbed by another company called Groupee. Well, the support for our version of software expired June 15, 2006 -- much to my dismay. However, the "architect" for this original software has been in contact with me, but it's been a slow process. I think the inevitable solution is to upgrade our software with their advanced services. But, that's going to take some planning and time issues, so it might be the weekend or next week before I can do this project.
I'll keep you all posted!
