quote: I believe she said the meeting time changed without her knowledge.
Huh? The meeting tiems were on this site all spring. I even made sure our HS coach knew what was going on. That's not an excuse at all.

Dext3r, I hope you turn into oncoming traffic in the near future. I also hope some of those players needing discipline develop character if they plan on coming back next year.

Just a note of clarification, the final Region 4-AAAA standings were as follows:
Tie for first - Lexington & South Aiken
Tie for Third - Aiken, N. Augusta, White Knoll
First and Third place were determined by Region tie breaking procedures that appear to be the same as for all other sports: 1st tiebreaker - Head-to-head won-lost 2nd - points based on ranking of region teams you defeated. 6 for first, 5 for second, etc. 3rd - non-region record 4th - coin toss
After third place was determined, there was a play-in game for fourth.

To whom are speaking, Ric? Are you that sure some of these people writing are even soccer players? I myself am not and I do not agree with naming names or raking some of these well deserving young ladies over the coals.I believe this all stems from some miscalculations by a few well meaning coaches along with ones that failed at doing their duty.I also believe that a few young ladies were misled. The women that I know have outstanding character and are far better people than most of the people on this website.THERE ARE A FEW THAT HAVE HIGHER STANDARDS THAN THEIR COACHES OR THEIR PARENTS!

#1 Marcoefan, what exactly does it mean when you type certain parts in all caps? Thanks in advance for the clarification.
#2 When most posters have someone specific they are making a post towards, one will usually find some mark of direction. In my case, I started my post with:
"Dext3r..."
What that means is that the following assimilation of words was intended for him/her. Hope that helps...

R1C: Respectfully, I was confused by this portion of your post as well "I also hope some of those players needing discipline develop character if they plan on coming back next year."
Again, very respectfully, if you're talking about MW [the only player from Aiken I've seen mentioned on this board in this context], I've seen her play in RIIIPL, SYL, and against some colleges -- I don't think she'd be as good a player as she is without a lot of character and discipline. Just my opinion.

R1C... Excuse me for not understanding that there are certain guidelines for posting. Capitalizing EMPHASIZES what someone is trying to get across. I thought you might understand that ( you being a teacher). NO EVILNESS INTENDED. All these notations doesn't mean we are talking of one certain player. I believe it started out about SA. What I am trying to say is that as parents and coaches, we sometimes do not live up to what is expected of us. Are we sending the right messages? There were a few well deserving girls left off certain teams because someone DID fail at their job. All this comes from what was communicated to them and their teams. When someone does well even if they are not on your own team , do they go unrecognized? Kudos for every young lady that stepped on the soccer field this year.

>> [r4sc] [...] lex let 3 easy in against dorman & couldnt stop 1 forward formation or corners [...] <<
Dorman came into Lexington with a very smart strategy: they played a 4-5-1 for much of the game [I even thought it morphed into a 3-6-1 at some points] and due to some lapses they scored again and again on a flat Lexington team. Lexington held their shape fairly well but were not able to do much on the outside -- and Dorman had the middle crowded intentionally. Lexington did try to feed the ball outside but our execution broke down with respect to receiving, passing, and seeing the field. Not making excuses, but of the three midfielders who made the all-region team, only two played at any one time due to injuries -- so that and Dorman's strategy of overloading the middle and our weak outside play and Dorman's excellent undermanned offensive play coupled with Lexington's defensive lapses all meant Lexington exited in the first round.
In previous games, I'm told, Lexington's coach would shift one of these three midfielders to wing or forward to give Lexington more ball handling capability at breadth; however, due to the injuries this wasn't a viable strategy. Dorman's coach was pretty darned smart to overload the middle to such a degree against Lexington.
The future should be pretty bright for Lexington; they're only losing one senior so if all of the girls come back it will form a pretty good core. The massive terratoriality between the Lexington club and high school teams is also said to be at an end so some of the players from the 2003 challenge cup championship team might add depth to the team as first-year sophomores in 2006. In my opinion, Lexington needs three things to move from a top #10 team to a top #5 team [in no particular order]: more/better passing/receiving, more defensive discipline, and more depth.
Congratulations to Lexington on going from an unranked team at the end of 2004 and entering 2005 as an unranked team to currently being ranked #9.
[P.S. As "deahler" said, none of this really matters to the all-region team since they were chosen before this; I just thought this was a more enjoyable topic than the other.]

Marcoefan, that makes sense to me. My comments were phrased in a way so that only one person knew what I was alluding towards. Keep fighting the good fight for these kids.
