Fort Mill: Number one seed in Region. Number one ranked in SC for months. Playoff victories by large margins. One preseason loss. Regionally and Nationally ranked.
West Ashley: Number three seed in Region. Number 5 ranked in SC most of the season. 4 one goal differential playoff victories, two into OT and one of these to pk's. Three season losses, one preseason loss. Unranked Regionally and Nationally.
The girls of West Ashley, again, just count their blessings that they will be allowed to play on the same field as FM this Friday. Next stop on the "Doin' It the Hard WAy Tour '05" USC's Stone Stadium...

Has any upstate team EVER won a soccer state championship? Girls or boys? Football - sure. Baseball - you bet. Soccer? Not that I can think of. West Ashley comes from the unquestioned womb of girls soccer in SC. It's a classic mismatch. Fort Mill will be lucky if the bus driver finds the stadium.

JSM...What kind of Fort Mill person ARE you!? IF you ARE from here, and IF you are a soccer mom I am amazed you don't give our local kids unqualified support. If you're trying to play some kind of motivational ploy...forget it! You, and another I won't mention, clearly don't understand female athlete psyche. Get behind your team with total support! I'll bet WA folks aren't putting THEIR team down. That's the way it should be! The girls deserve it...both teams. "Lucky to find the stadium"??? YOU should not even try!

Don't get too angry FMdad. Just let the girls duke it out Friday night. What the West Ashley and Fort Mill players think and feel is what matters.
