Since no active thread is currently available to demonstrate specific interesting vocabulary usage, I will use this "Quote of the Day" thread to salute Chico's use of the German word "schadenfreude" on the Club and ODP Forum. A composite German word comprised of "schaden" (damage) and "freude" (joy) it signifies an enjoyment derived from the distress or trouble of others, and in this particular case is applied to describe Coastal Coach's apparent delight in CESA's inability to penetrate better this year at Regionals than pre-CESA SC teams have done in recent years. Though not familiar with the Germanic language personally, I have always admired its lack of hesitation to connect two unrelated words to form a new integrated concept. "Kohlwurst" (cabbage sausage), "fusballtrikot" (soccer jersey), "nasenderjackson" (a cosmetic nose job gone hideously bad) are three which come to mind. Thanks again to Chico for the word of the day.
