SC Soccer Forums SCSoccer.com Forums SCHSSCA Officiating Evaluations???

I think you misunderstood my post. I am not against an evaluation system. In fact, I pointed out that one exists for football and basketball and as far as I know it works well. I don't know that soccer doesn't have one as I don't do soccer. My only point was that it would be a mistake to include coaches in the evaluation (basketball and football don't). You are correct, that an evaluation system would lead to incentive to improve, but with the current shortage of officials, all are needed to work varsity games, so in addition to an evaluation system, ideas are needed to recruit more and retain more officials.

Oh, and I never said two-man was the worst, just not the best.

I noticed that official said that more ex-players should think about helping out and officiating. Well, what do you have to do to do that? Just wondering for all the players who read this so they will know what to do after they graduateand stuff.

Glad you asked. Here's the link: http://www.schsl.org/sodir.htm
If they doesn't work for some reason, go to the SCHSL home page (linked at the scsoccer.com home page), click on "Officials Information", click on "Soccer", then click on "Districts". Once there, pick the district that is closest to you, and contact the director. In Lugoff, its probably Dennis Cook.

I would like to recognize some excellent officiating this past weekend at the IRMO JV tournament.
(not that anyone will read it on page3 of this thread)
In the 3 games we played we had 6 outstanding referees. I was only able to manage to get 1 of their names, John Maurer(probably spelled wrong) was especially skilled. Over the course of the game he consistently made decisive calls and defused several situations with players and fans with good explanations. A job well done by him and all the crew's this weekend.
Thanks Ref's!
