There's really no need for the bickering about the Christ Church/B-C match last Saturday.
The fact is that CCCES scored at the 69-minute mark and B-C scored at the 71-minute mark for a 1-1 draw in both teams' third match of The Palmetto Cup. Though B-C outshot CCES 15-5 and controlled the tempo most of the match, the Bearcats' achilles heel this season -- unlike no other in the past 10 years -- is the ability to finish shots. They say that "defense wins championships" -- well, B-C will certainly find that out before the season is over.
Coach David Wilcox of Christ Church has done an outstanding job with the Cavaliers and is to be commended, though he'll be the first to tell you that they were "underachieving" a bit earlier in the season. I look for CCES to represent Class 1A once again in the State Championship match come May!
P.S. -- Tomek Charowski is an outstanding sophomore who is zoned to attend T.L. Hanna. However, he's from Romania and the son of medical doctors who moved into the school district two weeks into his freshman year. So, they opted to enroll in CCES instead -- no harm done (except that T.L. Hanna would have a very good player in their system). Also, Scott Burgess impressed me during The Palmetto Cup. Good luck to the Cavs!
