Dexter,

I really wasnt responding to your post but to SCsF and his inquiry about the ODP process and suggesting that he just look at the SCYSA site for exact details. However, I would suggest that you take another look at the ODP registration fee as I believe the RF are actually $75 with $25 of it not be refundable.

Thanks. I was referring to the Boys side. What is the deal with the girls? Do players get $50 back if they don't make the next cut.

So what Dexter, someone criticizes or makes a joke about ODP and you call them a redneck? This is a forum for all to view and voice their opinions, whether one agrees with them or not. With regards to ODP, as much as it has helped my son, it does have issues. Poking fun of something every now and then, even things that one is involved in can give you a different perspective on things. Maybe you should try it.

Hello Dex,
Why so sensitive about a few barbs at ODP's expensive tastes? I was only hoping to pick up a few OD'ed ODP players who are attracted by the Red Neck League's costs and fun program. But please don't take offense at any of my comments about anything posted here. As many will tell you, much that I have to say here is just foolishness and harmless banter. NOTE: For those interested in our league in the spring, our total player costs will be $7.75 per player.

Boys,
I have no problems with any issue being addressed or criticized for improvement.I see little in the way of criticism with the above posts however. Criticism usually entails looking at a problem and coming up with solutions. The problem I have with this is that young soccer players will look at these posts and they become legitimized. The costs and political side of ODP have been addressed ad nauseum on this board, some fairly some not, but posts like this cheapens what players, coaches , and administrators put in to the program. I enjoy levity as much as the next guy, but my sense of humor stops when the integrity of ODP is called in to question either directly, obliquely, or comically, whether real or not. ODP is expensive and some jabs can be taken at it, but this area should be off limits. These types of posts perpetuates too many already established falsehoods.

Dr. Phil, thanks for the life lessons, I will try it.

For this year's Boys: The initial fee was $25 for the First tryout in October at Summerville. The SECOND tryout session in December will have an additonal registration fee which will include a T shirt. The site for the second tryout session has not been posted.
