Just a few comments about the '92 Boys ODP teams...

While the '91 boys teams were split into an "A" team and a "B" team, the coaches of the '92 boys teams attempted to make two "equal" teams (I won't attempt to explain why here). In essence, their overall strength was somewhat diluted. While several of the boys from SC are true U14 players (the '92 teams were playing in a U14 bracket), many are true U13 players, and several U12 players are also thrown in there.

It was evident that several of the Georgia teams were much, much larger, in general, than the SC teams. They had the speed advantage overall, and it was obvious they had been playing together as a team for quite some time.

Taking all this into account, the '92 boys teams competed quite well. I believe there were many Georgia parents who were shocked that their boys had as difficult a time as they did in many of the games this past weekend.
(not trying to take anything away from the '91 boys - congratulations!)

B'rent - both teams played in the U13 Div I group, which is appropriate as their oldest player would be a U13 - 91's did the same (U14 with U13 players).

With that said, both the '92 teams did very well, the White team went 1-1-1 (L and T by one goal) and the Red team with one win and 2 losses, only one game was a runaway.

Great job by both age groups - I have to say I am very impressed with the coaching staff this year...it just keeps getting better and better.

It certainly bodes well that the younger age groups are competitive early on. For whatever reason, my observation has been SC ODP teams tend to start slow and experience poor results in the beginning stages of ODP, but by the time they are u16 or u17 they are competitve with most teams they face. The 88 team has gone from not being able to score a goal the whole weekend at Jekyl Island to defeating the GA and NC teams in the past year or so. They now expect to win in these regional competitions.If the 91 and 92 teams are already doing well now,I expect them to be very good in a year or two.

I missed the part where I go to LR...I'm from Hopkins, I go to BC...LR has no boys soccer program, which is probably best. Byron will be attending Dreher. Blue Devil...Bearcat...sorry, no Diamond Hornets. I'm guessing the brown ale, was a bit "browner" than usual today.
