I guess it depends on a definition of powerful clubs, but SG, GFC, CESA would really be the only powerful or dominate SC clubs over an extended period of years. I don't think MPSC's one good year qualifies as powerful, just as Cola. has had no dominate clubs over an extended period of time.

Well My post on Pearse says it all. IF the top coaches are "there" all the time then they get the advantage....BUT I seem to see their names by ALL the teams......simply put you can only be at one place at one time. Nothing against their soccer smarts just hard to coach more than one team at one time.

No question Parkinson Orsorio Finotti Tormey Hyslop can coach......NO DOUBT...but so can Hiller Pinasco Molinary Leto and Crosby. Just see it as closer than you do.

2004 You are even dumber than I thought! Just cause your kid was potty training in the 90s' don't forget the Columbia clubs from the 90's.......NECSA and CMSA .then add..Trident United(Suarez Bros, Jimmy May, etc) all "dominated" the youth scene in the 90's. The talent was just as good if not better. Now the numbers were not as large but the teams were jsut as talented.Maybe not winning ALL the titles but they had teams win a championship in each age group as they got older. Every once in a while it is ok to take your CESA colored glasses off......Soccer was played in SC before "mergers" happened!

2004striker: To be fair, MPSC had more than one good year -- they were third on the list from 2000/2001 to 2003/2004 as well. Whether that makes them "dominant" or "powerful" -- I don't know. Of course, the problem with all of this stuff I'm posting is that it's looking in the rear view mirror instead of what's ahead.

I agree Shearer. From what i can tell, most of those guys only have one premier team and then some challenge teams. they seem to do a very good job of being at all the matches. again we just see things differently. however, what about the CSC teams that are not being trained by the top 4 or 5 guys? At CESA, those main trainers are training just about every challenge and premier team on top of the "Pool" teams. where as the guys you name are only doing one team at CSC most of the time. It is more important to be trained 3 times a week than to make sure "the" coach is there every practice adn game. Just my 2 cents

Thats where Tormey,Hyslop, and crew beat the PANTS off CSC. Why on earth is Miller coaching the 18's? I don't know who "trains" who at csc but I would think you would get more out of it if you had their top 3-4 doing it.

Now here comes the breakdown of it......CESA has how may FULL time guys? Everyone but Osorio,Shelly,Finotti(that are the "top coaches".....right? CSC has NONE. Thats the difference......Well The other HUGE difference is Tormey! Nothing for nothing....he might be as good as the guy at CASAL in running the club.

You're getting to the heart of it now Shearer. CESA is able to attract and retain top coaches from around the area. CESA is able to bring in coaches whereas CSC gets coaches from those already in place in Columbia. As lower said, the only way to do that is to give these "top coaches" several teams. It is impractical to uproot coaches and their families if they only have one team.

CESA has brought in coaches from areas other than Greenville over the last couple of years. I would dare say that Fredricksen, Finotti, Shelley, Fleming, etc... would not come to Greenville if they were not coaching the Premier level teams and only coaching one team at that.

I am baffled to why Crosby does not have a older boys team. Say what you will, the flagship teams of clubs are the older ages and CESA's older boys and girls teams are all manned by coaches with collegiate playing background, licences, experience, and state championships. I think Thad does a decent enough job, but I don't get why the DOC does not have an older team. It is a pretty common practice in clubs for the top coaches to have a older team and a young pool team .
