Pretty... you are incorrect, Super Y is associated with US Club Soccer which in turn is associated with USYSA. Super Y ODP is not separate from the USYSA concept. Read up in the links shown previously. The truth is for SC in order not to conflict with HS and Club, Super Y can only be played in the Summer. This in turn results in conflicts with summer vacations etc.
Thus the probability of running short on players is higher. Never heard of anyone playing with fake passes, remember that US club soccer is easier to register and easier to play in multiple teams within a club as long as you are age appropriate.
Ask anyone who has played Super Y in the South Atlantic region and who is the competition:
Richmons Kickers, Richmonmd Strikers,Atlanta Silverbacks, CASl, Charlotte Soccer club, Greensboro soccer club,Wilmington hammerheads, etc..
Virtually a Premier league competition.
I would much prefer to have a scout at the games seeing the kids play than trying to asses if Johnny or Janie are having their best day at one tryout. This year the SCYSA process is one tryout in December and interstate games.
This means that if you field 2 teams, that is 44 players, which also means that in order to play at the interstate games you have to be in the top 44 (determine after one tryout??? what if you are injured?)
Sometimes players are chosen because of reputation. It is good to have a reputation but to select on it? Would Bruce Arena select players purely on reputation? No you bring them to camp and then make a decision, I do not se Clint Mathis anywhere....do you?
Also I know for a fact that some clubs restrict or heavily frown upon players doing ODP.
FYI Danny Cates only tried out this year. He made because he is a good player and anyone who saw him would not think otherwise.
You want to have all the best players.... then make it an invitation process, everyone (rec/classic/challenge) pays $20 more to SCYSA fees for the year earmarked to ODP and you will have those honored with a much reduced cost.
Lastly coaching.... If you do not like what Van Taylor is doing then proposed a change that can be implemented. Anyone can stand on the mountain and proclaim everything bad, come down and make a change and see if it works.
