Pretty... you are incorrect, Super Y is associated with US Club Soccer which in turn is associated with USYSA. Super Y ODP is not separate from the USYSA concept. Read up in the links shown previously. The truth is for SC in order not to conflict with HS and Club, Super Y can only be played in the Summer. This in turn results in conflicts with summer vacations etc.
Thus the probability of running short on players is higher. Never heard of anyone playing with fake passes, remember that US club soccer is easier to register and easier to play in multiple teams within a club as long as you are age appropriate.

Ask anyone who has played Super Y in the South Atlantic region and who is the competition:

Richmons Kickers, Richmonmd Strikers,Atlanta Silverbacks, CASl, Charlotte Soccer club, Greensboro soccer club,Wilmington hammerheads, etc..

Virtually a Premier league competition.

I would much prefer to have a scout at the games seeing the kids play than trying to asses if Johnny or Janie are having their best day at one tryout. This year the SCYSA process is one tryout in December and interstate games.

This means that if you field 2 teams, that is 44 players, which also means that in order to play at the interstate games you have to be in the top 44 (determine after one tryout??? what if you are injured?)

Sometimes players are chosen because of reputation. It is good to have a reputation but to select on it? Would Bruce Arena select players purely on reputation? No you bring them to camp and then make a decision, I do not se Clint Mathis anywhere....do you?

Also I know for a fact that some clubs restrict or heavily frown upon players doing ODP.

FYI Danny Cates only tried out this year. He made because he is a good player and anyone who saw him would not think otherwise.

You want to have all the best players.... then make it an invitation process, everyone (rec/classic/challenge) pays $20 more to SCYSA fees for the year earmarked to ODP and you will have those honored with a much reduced cost.

Lastly coaching.... If you do not like what Van Taylor is doing then proposed a change that can be implemented. Anyone can stand on the mountain and proclaim everything bad, come down and make a change and see if it works.

Futbol, don't know if all of these points are directed towards me or not. But, I will speak to them anyway.
1. I never stated that super y was not associated with another organization. In fact, I asked who they were associated with.
2. I never said anything about playing with fake passes - make an appointment with Nino.
3. Super Y virtually a premier league? More like club soccer.
4. Don't hand me this bs about 1 day tryouts. If a kid toes a ball today chances are pretty good he will toe it next saturday.
5. Your math is a little off. I don't think any odp team has ever had 22 players on a roster - I could be wrong. Even so, what gives? You question the selection process and then criticize the amount of players being allowed to play in the interstate games, which is another opportunity for a player to show themselves? Look, the actual odp selection process lasts from december until may. the initial "cut" is for those players whose parents obviously haven't come to grips with the abilities or lack thereof of their own player.
6. Can't speak on clubs not allowing players to try out for odp. I have never had that problem.
7. What is your point about Danny Cates - the kid is a quality player and obviously deserved the recognition that he received.
8. Who doesn't like what Van is doing? I have been one of the only ones on here who has supported his efforts with odp. No mountain here - scared of heights. Save the holy than thou speech for your own people.

I'm still waiting for someone that is associated with Y League to address the issue of scouts. My experience on this scouting process is one Y League coach saying to another, "Who are your best players."

Don't take this wrong because it is not intended as such, but why is Aiken the only club associated with Y League. I think that this differentiates Aiken from other clubs as most of the big clubs, Bridge aside, do not associate with US Club Soccer. Y League has a purpose- it gives kids decent games over the summer but beyond that I'll need some more convincing.

for the last time I do not have a son......Pretty it seems to me you might be a little "aww" struck w/ someone.....Look around....it makes a big difference in what the kids are wearing. When Norh and South Texas come in Total 90 gear head to toe it makes a difference to 13,14,15,16 year olds.....if you expect to compete w/ the big boys we should act like them.....not take the cheap way out.

I am sure you will "rip" this as well so fire away!

Mr. Brown,
When Futbol's people call your people for that meeting, I wouldn't mind being included as part of your brain trust. I promise not to wear the score gear. If you would like to get more information about me, perhaps you could come and listen to me speak with my people on these issues. This is where I am most comfortable, feel unthreatened, and can trust that I will get just as honest of a chance as the CEO's kid. Thanks.

Whoops!!
My son played for Van Taylor at Lander. There were several SC players on the team and several from the UK, S. America and one from Nigeria. A couple of the SC players were starters.
I don't think he has more than a couple of foreign nationals on the women's team, which is all I give a crap about any longer since my sons are "out of the house."

South Texas is actually in Score these days. North Texas was in something nasty too.Over the last couple of years there has been a trend where State Teams and State Champs have worn the lesser name brands. Score is one of these. Obviously cost is the reason with these lesser names practically giving away gear for publicity. Ironically, SC was on the cutting edge of this trend.

So, how did you want your name spelled on that staff shirt - Cherer? This way you can look like the big boys.

Pretty.... bad english in my part.

The only one directed at you is who Super Y is associated with.
2- was directed at Nino
3- Super Y teams that I have seen are the same players in the premier league (if not club). Have you seen different? I am aware of the reduced level in US Club soccer normal league. This is a stand alone league.
4- In younger age groups it happens, I have also seen many players who are game time players but not very good practice players. One tryout is not sufficient if you have never seen the kid play, this means you will have to rely on others, it is a this point that politics comes in.
5- My math is not off, for the interstate games they usually take an A and a B team comprised of players numbers in the low 20s.
6 - you are lucky... I have seen it and heard it first hand.
7- No point, what you say is what I say. He came out showed well and deserved to be in it. But it was his first time, no other tryouts. Jugal did not try out last season to the best of my knowledge.
8- was not directed at you, and as far as my own people I have set Fenomeno straight many times before.

In the future I will try to be more conscious of what is directed at whom.

Lastly, although I may want to share a Newcastle with Mr. Shearer, I have always insisted that it is not the cost of the equipment but the person in it that counts (this goes to all those kids who wear $200 cleats to games). In my exposure to ODP, no one has ever complained that SCORE is the supplier. Heck I see them wear those practice T-shirts with SCORE written all over to school without complaints.... Why? because it says ODP on it.

Several people I know have had Super Y experiences. I have never seen any scouts at any of the games that I have been in attendance and that has been quite a few. Most of the clubs have exceptional reputations. Diadora is not one of them. They lack organization and comittment. I have been at games where the same 9- 11 people have had to play back to back games in different age groups because there were not enough players.Yes, and at times there were people playing with no player passes. Yes, the basic idea of Super y is good, but most of the best talent isn't there. Last but not least, people that have been selected for their Region camps was based not on talent but who were certain coaches' favorites. Am I right futbol(soccer)? I do believe you are on the McGovern or Rhodes bandwagon.
