I received a call and an email today that shocked me and sadden me at the same time. I am still in shock. Brittany Corgan died last night in her sleep at 15 years of age. I had the privilege of knowing this young lady when she played with my daughter at CSC and she was currently playing for the current CESA U-17 premier team.

I just saw and talked to her Dad at the summerville ODP interstate games a couple of weekends ago, where she was playing. She was a beautiful, intelligent and very talented young lady. Her presence will be missed in the soccer community.

Brittany's funeral will be at Grace Baptist Church on Thursday at 1:00. Visitation is at Thompson Funeral Home in W. Columbia on Wed. from 5-7. The family has asked for donations to go their church (which is Grace Baptist).

Heard the news today, very sad. Seems she was an excellent player. My condolences to the family.

This is so incredibly sad...every parent's worst nightmare. Prayers and condolences to the family.

I am sure that many of you within the soccer community have heard the sad news regarding the passing of Brittany Corgan.

Brittany is a member of the CESA 88 Girls Premier (U-17) team and has played with CESA for the past two years. Brittany has also played for both the Lexington Soccer Club and the Columbia Soccer Club, as well as being an integral part of the South Carolina Olympic Development Program.

Brittany died on Sunday evening at her home in Columbia. Her death was unexpected and a tragedy to all those who knew her. I know that all involved within the South Carolina soccer community will keep her family in their thoughts and prayers throughout this difficult time and I sincerely hope that many of you who had the good fortune to spend time with Brittany will be able to attend the visitation on Wednesday and her funeral service on Thursday.

I am sending directions to the Thompson Funeral Home which will be the site for the visitation on Wednesday evening from 5:00-7:00pm. In addition the directions to Grace Baptist Church, which will be the location for Brittany's funeral on Thursday at 1:00pm are also available.
